2023 BARN quilt
block of the month

Welcome to
My Grandmother's Quilt

We're Bringing Vintage Back

There are so many unique, vintage quilt blocks that rarely get made anymore, and we think that's a shame.  We started My Grandmother's Quilt as a way to teach and share those vintage blocks.  Is Mod more your style?  No problem!  Switch up your fabrics to give these vintage blocks a modern vibe.

Come join us on a journey of 12 vintage quilt blocks, get ideas on layout and how to quilt it.  It's going to be a lot of fun!

How it works

It’s Really Simple!

The world of quilting is constantly changing and is limited only by one's imagination.  We want to bring back some of the vintage quilt blocks our grandmothers used to create warm, functional bedding for their loved ones.

The way it works is simple: choose the payment method that works best for you: Monthly or Annually.  Then each month you'll receive a set of printable instructions for that month's block, a line drawing that will allow you to decide which fabrics and colors work best in which area of the block, and a link to a helpful video tutorial.  Plus you'll have the support of our online community, as well as the ability to reach out to Regina and Elizabeth on Facebook or via email.  Come quilt with us; It's going to be a lot of fun!

Our Story

How it All Started

One bitter cold winter's day, we were both talking about our love and passion for sewing and quilting, and knew we wanted to share that love with others.  As we were looking at a stack of vintage quilts that Elizabeth had in her sewing room, we realized, with a few exceptions, neither of us had ever seen these blocks before.  More talking and plotting and planning, and a few weeks later we decided to take the plunge.

At My Grandmother's Quilt, our mission is to deliver a wonderful quilt block with easy to follow written instructions along with a fun how-to video  each month.

We're also partnering with Wooden Feetures to provide you with beautiful hand turned seam ripper that feature a seam ripper on one end and a stiletto on the other.

What People Say!

Beth R.
This was a wonderful experience for me. I am a relatively new quilter. I loved the process. Some blocks were more difficult than others but that was great. Regina and Elizabeth are wonderful and it was so much fun to see them work together. Questions were always answered quickly. I too will be a part of this group for a long time!!

This is an excellent BOM. The creators are always available. The block instructions are well written. I'm grateful for the slightly more challenging blocks because they push me to learn more. I am looking forward to next year's edition as well as future years.

This experience with MGQ has been excellent. Unlike other BOMs I have been a part of, you two have created a wonderful sense of community and support. My tiniest problem was answered quickly and completely with kindness and often humor. I will definitely be with this group for a long while. Thank you, Regina and Elizabeth!
